Whether your Stag is already a yachting enthusiast or just wants to learn a bit more about this glamorous sport, this weekend will ensure that he comes away wanting more.
You know you’re on to a winner when you head to the picturesque village of Hamble, a legendary yachting honeypot and then make a beeline for our head turning Hanse 54; chic, slick and built for both speed and comfort. There’s room aboard this gorgeous yacht for up to 13, so plenty of potential for serious partying.
After sinking a few beers at Banana Wharf, one of yachting’s premier watering holes, we press on to Cinnamon Bay for curry and more beers before heading down to the legendary King and Queen bar to swap tales of yacht racing prowess with the locals and soak up the race weekend buzz. The seriously hardy can round off their night at the Boomerang nightclub.
The following morning we get serious about having some high adrenaline fun and head out into the millionaire’s playground that is the Solent to indulge in some serious r n’ r. Once clear of the River Hamble, the sails go up and you’ll be able to fully appreciate the potential of the Hanse 54 as she heels to the breeze and gets a chance to stretch her legs. Blow away the cobwebs as we tack briskly up the Solent to the iconic Needles Channel and feel the pure joy of handling a big, powerful yacht as she responds to your slightest touch of the helm.
With the white cliffs of the Needles providing a spectacular backdrop, we’ll anchor in Colwell Bay and you’ll be whisked in to lunch by our high speed RIB, before heading down to the pristine sands for a bit of a kickabout.
Then it’s back to the yacht where the action cranks up a notch or two as we unfurl the huge spinnaker and you can enjoy the adrenaline rush of flying downwind toward our overnight stopover at Cowes on the Isle of Wight.
Cowes is recognised as the home of yachting and is a Mecca for any aspiring yachtie.
Experience the buzz of this lively town over a busy race weekend and explore some of its famous watering holes before heading to a top class restaurant for dinner and, yes, more drinks.
Sunday is all about chilling out, with leisurely sailing the order of the day before we drop the hook off beautiful Osborne Bay for a BBQ.
Follow this up with a bit of a blast around in our RIB before meandering back to Hamble and you have all the ingredients for a truly unforgettable stag weekend.
