Hanse 540 – Saga

The Hanse 540 is the yacht of choice for Sailing GB and there are plenty of reasons why. This is a vessel which provides the ideal blend of cruising comfort and lively performance. With her long waterline length, the Hanse has an excellent turn of speed, while her broad beam ensures that she is stiffer and more stable than many yachts of comparable size. This translates to better performance, more power and less bouncing around. Her beam also ensures that there is ample room below for all of the luxuries that the modern yachtsman has come to expect. Our experience in the charter industry has also shown that a yacht in to 50-60ft size bracket provides the ideal mix of intimacy while still affording a good degree of personal space and privacy. The large, open plan saloon on the 540 has also proved to be a big hit, as this is a light, airy area, offering the perfect social environment. All our Yachts are fully coded by the Marine Coastguard Agency in their very stringent offshore racing category. The yachts are also geared up for international offshore racing category 1 specification (ISAF Cat.1) We supply all safety equipment such as lifejackets and include wet weather gear.

Innovative Design

For those who want a bit more background on the Hanse 540 she came from the drawing board of the well known yacht designers Judel and Vrolijk, a pair known for producing many notable racing vessels, including the Americas Cup winner Alinghi  to name one of many.

The pair has also proved a dab hand at taming the blistering pace of their racing yachts in order to produce high performance cruisers, such as the Hanse 540. Marry that with Hanse’s well respected reputation for producing comfortable, easily handled yachts with light, spacious interiors and you have a winning formula. This is a yacht as comfortable racing around the cans as it is racing across oceans.

Inside, the 540 boasts accommodation for 14, plus crew, all with en-suite bathrooms. Whilst the vessel can sleep 14, its wide decks and spacious salon mean that you can accommodate far more for a day sail if you wished, making this a great boat for a post-race soiree.
