Off to an early start to catch GBR Yachts Elan 450 Wolverine who were ahead of us in gusty 30 knot winds off the Needles as early morning thunderstorms rolled in, both yachts heeling at full tilt …… until the wind dropped off and the squals cleared to reveal the more typical summer weekend day we’ve become accustomed to in the Solent. With a race around the Isle Of Wight planned racing second Stag Do group onboard ‘Wolverine’ a good choice for the weekend before the JP Morgan Round The Island race with a large group of yachts out to practice the course run with.
A full days sailing through high winds, storms, becalmed in light winds and still waters and racing yachts around the Isle Of Wight the guys were please to raft up against Wolverine in Cowes Yacht Haven and head for the pub.
Woody was looking for a relaxed weekend out with his best friends and with the exception of Lederhosen German theme costumes to celebrate his life in Germany the weekend was very chilled with most of the guys opting to lounge in the cockpit and swap stories after a meal at ‘The Anchor.’
