Co-operation Ireland Regatta

Date: June 11, 2020

Course: Solent

Category: Inshore

RACE BACKGROUND:

The co-operation Ireland regatta provides a great opportunity for crew to get a taste of yacht racing over the course of a single day. Departing from the smart new marina at Gunwharf Quays in the heart of Portsmouth, crews who sign up will enjoy the chance to pit their wits against racers utilising the excellent fleet of Beneteau First 40.7’s, which provide well matched and exciting racing within the Solent. Those not so interested in racing can enjoy excellent views of the Isle of Wight, the historic forts situated off Portsmouth and also excellent views of the town’s historical waterfront. Meanwhile, those keen to race will enjoy expert tips from the skipper and mate and will soon find them enthralled by the keen tactical battles, which unfold throughout the day. Breakfast and lunch are both served aboard and there are three races to be enjoyed throughout the day.

Even as the dust settles on a hard days’ racing, the competitors retire to the fabulous historical and deeply nautical setting of the old battleship HMS Warrior for dinner, drinks and a friendly debrief on the days’ excitement. Following a three-course dinner, there will be a charity prize auction and, most importantly, the prize giving. Participants will return home dazed, confused but utterly enthused by a thrilling day out on the water
